New members Christmas Market

Ethna Neiland and John Mulqueen are the newest members of Wicklow and District Lions Club.

They were both made very welcome by all members at their induction ceremony on Wednesday last and presented with their official Lions badge by President Pat O’Brien who sincerely welcomed Ethna and John.

Wicklow’s Abbey Grounds will be transforme­d this month for the festive season.

The Christmas Market will take place on the weekends of December 8 and 9, December 15 and 16 and December 22 between 12 noon and 6 p.m.

In addition to the plentiful selection of local artisan foods, decoration­s, gifts and workshops, there will be an abundance of fun and sparkly activities to get young and old into the Christmas mood.

There will also be the opportunit­y to visit Santa in his magical Grotto.

To add a little extra touch of excitement and Christmas cheer, the committee have organised a number of musical and entertainm­ent bookings to dazzle the senses, along with a magical family funfair within the historical Abbey Grounds.

They will also be hosting an Alpaca experience where adults and children will get a chance to mingle with all things woolly and wonderful.

These markets promise to be an event to remember and there is plenty of parking nearby.

This is a non-ticketed event, so anyone and everyone is welcome to attend and browse through our stalls and treatfille­d venue. This is a wheelchair and buggy friendly event.

The market will also be a Greener Festival event. Organisers and stall holders are working together to ensure that the festival is brought to you with minimal impact on the environmen­t.
