CHRISTMAS shoppers will find exactly what they are looking for all along the streets of Wicklow, regardless of budget or tastes.

There has never been a better time to shop local and where better than in your local town to tick off a few gifts off your shopping list.

Wicklow has an array of boutiques, specialist stores, family owned businesses and various shops offering everything you could possibly require.

Thousands turned out for the turning on of the Christmas lights on Saturday, enhancing the streetscap­e with their bright and dazzling display.

Throughout Wicklow there are a range of boutiques, specialist stores, family owned businesses and various shops offering everything you could possibly require.

There will be bargains a plenty to be sniffed out in Wicklow town so save yourself from the hustle and bustle of shopping in Dublin or elsewhere.

After a busy day of shopping and ensuring all the Christmas presents have been bought, why not drop into one of Wicklow town’s many cafes, bars or restaurant­s in a relaxing atmosphere for a hearty meal, a cuppa and maybe even a mulled wine or two.

An added attraction this year is the Christmas Market taking place in the Abbey Grounds on the weekends of December 8 and 9, December 15 and 16 and December 22 between 12 noon and 6 p.m.

There will be a selection of local artisan foods, decoration­s, gifts, music, entertainm­ent and workshops, as well as the chance to visit Santa in his magical Grotto. There will also be an Alpaca experience where adults and children will get a chance to mingle with all things woolly and wonderful.
