ECLECTIC MIX AT

-

AN MIX of original artwork created by artists from Arklow town and environs is at the heart of the new Christmas members’ exhibition at Arklow Visual Arts Gallery. The show runs until after Christmas and is certainly worth viewing.

Tony Byrne from Arklow surprised curators with work inspired from his latest trip to London. Montages of buskers and a painting of London underground lines feature while another piece of his work is his interpretation of the London Observatory, Greenwich.

Patrick Power, a well known local artist known for his large paintings of religious themes also historical and local scenes has a few surprises in this latest show.

Andrew Manson, Attracta Manson and Sarah Manson, a family of artists have a selection of pictures on show, each artist in a different way.

David Owens has submitted some religious nativity paintings and also some military style on show while Robert Harcus, a professional artist shows traditional styles of work. Robert is the only Irish artist to be elected a signature member of the American Academy of equine art.

Helen Hiney from England but living in Hacketstown for many years is a regular exhibitor showing lovely views in her paintings.

Maisie Dillon, a great supporter of the gallery shows her woodland scenes at a very affordable price while Jenny Bardon has two amazing watercolours showing elegance and style. Mary and Michael Mitchell, brother and sister have some wonderful colourful paintings and both totally different to one other and Michael O’Connor, also well known locally, shows in his very fine detail in oils of the Arklow golf club when it was a nine-hole course.

New to the gallery, Nadia Ramoutar recently held a successful solo exhibition, full of colour and inspiration and is a welcome addition to this members’ exhibition. Jadwiga lives in Arklow with her family and this is her second time to exhibit in the local venue.

Arklow Cancer Support also have some pictures by Bernie Fitzgerald and Jimmy Ennis. A beautiful snow scene by Jimmy needs to be seen!
