No questions asked after 11 reports

-

NOT a single question was asked of the County Board officials by delegates after the delivery of 11 reports and the Chairman’s report at the Wicklow GAA convention on Monday night in Aughrim.

The well-attended meeting sat in near silence as each officer concluded their reports and Wicklow GAA Chairman Martin Fitzgerald asked was there any questions and not one single issue was raised.

As a convention it was quite subdued due to there being no contests for any of the top positions. Martin Fitzgerald was returned unopposed to the chair after Michael Neary did not attend the meeting.

Mick Hagan was announced as Vice-Chairman unopposed. Alan Smullen met no resistance in the role of treasurer while Colm Finnegan was the only name put forwrad for assistant treasurer.

Chris O’Connor returned unopposed as county secretary while the role of assistant secretary was not filled and will be looked at at the first County Board meeting in early January but it is suspected that there is a candidate lined up for the job.

Coolkenno’s Shane Byrne sailed into the Irish Cultural Officer role, Bridget Kenny met no contest in assuming the role of PRO, Laragh’s Brendan Smyth is Wicklow’s new coaching officer, and Owen Doyle takes the reins as hurling officer.

Central Council rep is Martin Coleman, Leinster reps are Mick Murphy and Billy Byrne, delegates to Leinster Convention are Oqen Doyle, Mick Hagan, Martin Fitzgerald, and Martin Coleman, while Chris O’Connor, Alan Smullen, Mick Hagan and Martin Coleman are delegates to Congress.
