A year that ‘wasn’t easy’

THE Chairperson of the CCC said the year in fixtures ‘wasn’t easy’ when asked to address the convention on Monday night.

‘I just want thank all the clubs for the last three years, in particular this year, for all their support,’ said Bridget Kenny.

‘It wasn’t easy, but we got through it. I just want to thank the members of the CCC, they really were a great support all year, so thanks very much,’ she said.

Baltinglass GAA Club delegate Seamus Kelly then paid tribute to the work done by the CCC in fixtures in Wicklow over the past year.

‘I want to compliment the CCC. As you know, as a result of the Gilroy Report, the three wise men led by Liam O’Neill from Leinster came here and set things in motion in relation to our fixtures for the year gone by.

‘This duty was then passed on to Bridget Kenny and her CCC committee and I would like to compliment them on the work done. Everybody knew where they were playing and when they were playing, and it was an absolutely brilliant booklet.

‘Way back in February it even went as far as October when it was printed that the under-20 championship would start, and, thankfully, this under-20 championship has been an unbelievable success.

‘Both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ section of it, every club took part, a lot of players took part, and it’s due to their foresight in producing that. I must say they got the support of the clubs, and fair play.

‘I would also like to compliment Hugh Kenny on his wonderful report.

‘It’s an unbelievable report. I know he produces it every year, but the way he has produced it in booklet form this year is unbelievable.

‘Hugh also took over the fixtures section of that area as well this year and I know from my own club Baltinglass that they were extremely happy with the way things were done.

‘So, just to Bridget Kenny and her committee, and to Hugh, I want to say thank you and compliment you on what you’ve done. And I sincerely hope that in the years ahead, that the good work that you have started will continue for everybody’s benefit in this county,’ he added.
