Our Academy team played a series of games in Rathnew where plenty of good football was on display.

Well done everybody and thank you to Rathnew F.C. for facilitating the game.

Our ever-popular Development Squad has started back and will continue every weekend from 10am until 11am (Indoors) and new players are always welcome. The cost is €3 per head.

Due to the lack of space in the surrounds of the Sports Hall it may not be possible for all parents to view training inside the playing area.

Also due to the large numbers attending any players failing to attend for a number of weeks without communicating with the coaches may have to wait until spaces in the squad become available again.

At the moment we have a large number of boys and girls attending each week and thankfully at the moment we have the required coaches needed but we wouldn’t say no to a few more volunteer coaches.

If you think you can give an hour or two each week please contact our Secretary at the contact details below.

We have two players from the club celebrating a birthday in the coming week and they are Jake McDonald from the Development Squad and Jake Robertson from the U11’s. Happy birthday to the “two Jakes” from everyone at Newtown Juniors F.C.

We kind of jumped the gun last week when we thought we might have a winner from our midweek fixtures (Round 9). Peter had gone for West Ham and they duly dispatched Cardiff City on a 3-0 scoreline while Marie’s selection Bournemouth were 2-1 winners over Huddersfield Town.

We have however got a winner in Round 10 of the competition after Marie’s selection Manchester United disposed of Fulham 4-1, while Peter’s selection Newcastle Utd lost 1-2 to Wolves in the Sunday game.

Well done Marie on winning our Prize Pot of €550 and commiserations to Peter who had battled away with Marie for the past couple of weeks for coming so close to winning.

Many thanks to everyone who supported our competition these past few weeks.

To all our participants please have a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.

Our next Last Man Standing competition starts back in January 2019 (date tbc), so if you would like to take part please let any committee member or coach know and they do the rest.
