Dominican College Wicklow
LITERACY AND NUMERACY
Over the coming two weeks the first year literacy and numeracy testing will take place. All first year students are asked to bring in head phones to facilitate this process. The purpose of these tests is to track student attainment and improvement since the CAT four assessments which took place in February of last year. Subsequently parents will informed of their daughters progress.
This testing is one of many initiatives to be found in the school self evaluation plan relating to the specific target of improving the literacy and numeracy skills of all students. School self evaluation is mandatory and an important part of the School Improvement Plan. This plan is now available on the school website dominicanwicklow. net for all parents to view.
DATES FOR THE DIARY
On Tuesday, December 5, following a tough week of exams all the second year students were brought to GoQuest in North Dublin by their tutors. GoQuest is an indoor challenge zone with 28 unique challenge rooms and the aim is for the girls to complete as many of the rooms as possible during their 1.5 hour session. A limited amount of time is allotted to each room for solving the challenge and if you succeed you get points for that room. You are on a quest to get as many points as possible. The rooms are a mixture of physical, skill and mental challenges with three levels of difficulty. The girls and teachers became very competitive and had a fantastic time. Very well done to the students who beat the teachers into second place.
Following their time at GoQuest the girls had an enjoyable shopping session in the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre picking up some Christmas presents. Overall it was a great bonding day enjoyed by all.

They have a strict NO KILL policy which they take very seriously hence many abandoned
The senior hockey players had their best performance to date in their penultimate game of the season. The game was against St Raphaela’s who had won all their games and sat comfortably at the top of the group table. It was a fantastic team performance with the Dominican girls pushing the visiting team right to the end
