Driver ar­rested af­ter beer cans found in car

A DRIVER was ar­rested on New Year’s Eve on sus­pi­cion of drink driv­ing af­ter empty beer cans and bot­tles were dis­cov­ered scat­tered through­out the ve­hi­cle.

The mo­torist was stopped by gar­daí as he was driv­ing through New­town­moun­tkennedy.

Gar­daí shared pho­to­graphs of the in­side if the ve­hi­cle on Twit­ter, re­veal­ing a large num­ber of empty Heineken cans in one of the footwells and in­side a door com­part­ment. A num­ber of un­opened cans rest be­side the gear stick while a bot­tle of beer can also be seen.

The cap­tion by dis­mayed gar­daí ac­com­pa­ny­ing the pic­tures states: “Se­ri­ously!! Do some peo­ple ever lis­ten to the warn­ings? Driver ar­rested yes­ter­day in New­town­moun­tkennedy, Co Wick­low, on sus­pi­cion of Drink Driv­ing. #BeSafe.”
