Driver arrested after beer cans found in car

A DRIVER was arrested on New Year’s Eve on suspicion of drink driving after empty beer cans and bottles were discovered scattered throughout the vehicle.

The motorist was stopped by gardaí as he was driving through Newtownmou­ntkennedy.

Gardaí shared photograph­s of the inside if the vehicle on Twitter, revealing a large number of empty Heineken cans in one of the footwells and inside a door compartmen­t. A number of unopened cans rest beside the gear stick while a bottle of beer can also be seen.

The caption by dismayed gardaí accompanyi­ng the pictures states: “Seriously!! Do some people ever listen to the warnings? Driver arrested yesterday in Newtownmou­ntkennedy, Co Wicklow, on suspicion of Drink Driving. #BeSafe.”
