Arklow Gorey combination come up trumps

GOREY/ARKLOW known as ‘Argo’ took to the pitch Saturday morning to play their first match of the new league Leinster 18’s Premier 3 vs North Meath.
The girls started off well with Kate Farrell scoring a try within the first few minutes; stepping her way through the defensive line.
The game continued on and both teams were strong in attack while also putting in great hits in defense.
Ultimately Argo came out with another try, Emily Slater scoring another with a crash ball up the middle with Kate Farrell converting.
Argo continued on strong with Ava Pierce making a break through and running for her first try of the game, Kate Farrell also converting.
North Meath continuous strong counter rucking led them to steal the ball passing it out the back line and scoring their first try of the game. The half-time score being 19-5.
The second half of the match was underway and within minutes Argo’s Caoilfhinn Kavanagh stepped her way past defenders leading to another try. Argo’s forwards Georgia Earls, Siobhan Kennedy and Hannah Keegan along with the rest of the pack put in great work at line outs and scrum time. North Meath not giving up came back with a converted try closing the gap. Argo’s back line reacting quickly with great hands and speed Kate Farrell scoring her second try of the match.
As the match progressed further into the second half, Argo showed even more skill with scrum half Kerry Byrne making a break for the line scoring her first try of the game under the posts converted by Caoifhlinn Kavanagh. Once again North Meath’s relentless counter rucking gave them one last opportunity to get over the white line. Final score 41-17.
