Week of Prayer for Christian Unity – January 18 to January 25: An Ecumenical Worship Service will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, in St Mary’s Parish Church. The theme for this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has been prepared by Christians from Indonesia and is centred on reminding us that our prayer for unity is offered up amid injustice and that Christian disunity is in so many ways related to the divisions in our world. ‘Justice and only justice you shall pursue’ (Deuteronom­y 16: 18-20). All parishione­rs are invited to join with parishione­rs from our local church of Ireland Parish to come pray together at this Ecumenical Service.

St Mochonog’s: Calling All Volunteers. We would like to provide tea or coffee and refreshmen­ts after Mass in Kilmacanog­ue on certain Sundays and special occasions. HISTORY SOCIETY

Last Thursday night noted historian and author Chris Corlett opened the Spring programme of the Enniskerry History Society at 8.30 p.m. in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House, Hotel, Enniskerry Village, at which he presented his lecture ‘Powerscour­t in the Middle Ages’ which provided the audience with a picture of the area at that time. The February meeting of the society will take place in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House Hotel, Enniskerry Village at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, when author and historian Ken Finlay, The Old Dublin Society, will present his lecture ‘Charles Cameron – Saving the City of Dublin’ – all welcome, admission €5,

The Dún Laoghaire – Rathdown County Council ‘winter of Heritage’ programme of free tours and talks takes place from Monday, January 21, to Sunday, March 3, with free tours of the James Joyce Tower and Museum, Cabinteely House, National Maritime Museum of Ireland (pre-booking required), The Oratory, Dún Laoghaire, and Marlay House. ENNISKERRY LIBRARY

Opening hours for the library, located on Church Road, Enniskerry, are – Tuesday and Friday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. New members to the library are always very welcome. The Meals on Wheels Service operates in Enniskerry and Kilmacanog­ue and delivers hot meals every Tuesday and Thursday to older people in their homes. It’s an opportunit­y to connect with the community and provide a hot meal and social contact call to older people in the area. We are looking for volunteer drivers who can give up two or three hours twice a month to facilitate this much needed service. Bowls has now returned on Tuesday evenings as well as Thursday evenings at 8 p.m. in St Patrick’s/Forrester’s Hall. New members are welcome.

Louise’s yoga class will be held every Thursday from 10 to 11.15 a.m. This is a gently paced class where students learn how to align, open and strengthen the body gradually while stabilisin­g the platforms of the feet and ankles, hips and pelvis and shoulder girdle. The class begins with general and targeted warm-up sequences followed by postures (Asanas) and Vinyasa (breath-connected) sequences before final relaxation in Savasana.
