30 DAYS IN PRISON FOR MAN

-

A MAN WHO told gardai to ‘go and f **k off ’ was sentenced to prison for 30 days.

Jim Moorehouse (30), 50 Ashwood, Roundwood, appeared in Bray District Court last Thursday.

The court heard that on September 20 last year, at around 4.30 a.m., they heard a commotion coming from a property on Wurzburg Road in Bray. They asked the occupants to keep the noise down.

Moorehouse left shortly after that and was shouting and saying he would ‘get’ other people there. Gardai told him to leave the scene and he shouted obscenities at them. He was subsequently charged with being drunk and disorderly.

The court heard that Moorehouse has 14 previous convictions. He has medical conditions requiring certain medication.

On the day in question he was having a row with relatives, drink had been taken, and on the way out he was rowdy.

Solicitor Brendan Maloney said that his client wished to apologise for his conduct.

Judge DAvid Kennedy said that Moorehouse has a previous history of public order offences. ‘He shouldn’t drink while on medication,’ said Judge Kennedy, saying that the defendant’s behaviour had been ‘disgraceful’.

‘He was asked to leave and continued to shout abuse,’ said Judge Kennedy. ‘He can’t continue to behave like that and expect a slap on the wrist.’
