Pony club members pick up prizes
THERE WAS GREAT excitement in St Tegan’s Hall, Kiltegan, recently as the members of Shillelagh Pony Club gathered for their annual prize-giving ceremony.
Although the night got off to a shaky start following a short powercut, the electricity was soon up and running again and the awards were accepted with pride.
This year’s award recipients were: Sarah Shephard – Best Show Jumping Performance, Mikayla Darcy - Most Enthusiastic, Sarah Hathaway - Best turned out throughout the year, Johnnie Shephard – most determined, Mollie Kinsella – Most Acrobatic and Agile Games Player, Daniel Collins – Most Improved from Camp 2017 to Camp 2018, Niall Kavanagh - pony club member of the year who takes part in all disciplines and is always there to help out at PC events.
Shillelagh Pony club is open for new members at present at a subscription of €110. The club provides subsidised training in show jumping, cross country, dressage and mounted games and runs training rallies which are fun and informative.
The week-long summer camp is also hugely popular. Being a club member provides young riders with the opportunity to compete at pony club competitions at club level and to qualify for national competitions .
It also provides an assessment of riding and stable management through PC efficiency tests, which are run annually.
Members can be certain that they will have lots of fun and there are many social events and outings throughout the year.
Shillelagh Pony Club is very informal and is always open to new ideas and new members.
