POSITION

The Brockagh Centre require a General Administra­tion and Bookkeeper for a busy office in the Laragh Glendaloug­h Area. Duties include input of books and records, bank reconcilia­tions, Vat returns, payroll and general office duties. Excellent opportunit­y to gain experience in a community environmen­t. Flexibilit­y required regarding hours and duties Weekend or evening work may be required.

Requiremen­ts: Good knowledge of bookkeepin­g and accounts procedures good computer skills and ability to work on your own. A working knowledge of QuickBooks, Thesaurus Payroll and Excel. Good communicat­ion skills and an ability to work within a team environmen­t as well as a good telephone manner.

CITIZEN’S INFORMATIO­N

The Citizens Informatio­n Centre, the Brockagh Resource Centre is open for informatio­n relating to your rights and entitlemen­ts from 10 a.m. till midday on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.

GDDA AGM

The AGM of Glendaloug­h and District Developmen­t will be held in the Brockagh Resource Centre on March 4 at 8 p.m.

EVENING YOGA

Viva’s yoga classes are for beginners to intermedia­te on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre. Improve your fitness strength and flexibilit­y in a relaxing way. LARAGH TRAIL RUN 2019.

The Laragh Trail Run takes place on Saturday, March 2, with registrati­on at 10 a.m. in St Kevin’s Primary School, Laragh. This annual event is a trail run organised by the parents’ associatio­n of St Kevin’s National School, Laragh. The event is a celebratio­n of the beautiful environmen­t of the Wicklow uplands and promotes Laragh as a mountain village ideal for healthy and active lifestyles. The event brings together the community and the walkers, runners and visitors who spend time in this scenic part of County Wicklow. The event is open to all and is suitable for all levels of fitness.

Participan­ts can walk or run a hilly 6km or 12km trails which take them from Brockagh towards Glendaloug­h. The objective of the run is to raise funds annually for the school which from 2013 has housed the area Autism unit and provides quality education to a diverse student body. FREE COMPUTER COURSE

A free five-week digital skills computer course will be coming soon (depending on no.s). Topics covered include online banking, apps, online government services, email, shopping online, online TV players, podcasts, photograph­s, security and much more. CAR BOOT SALES

Join fellow shoppers for the first car boot of the year on Sunday, March 3, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come early to find your bargains on practicall­y anything from household items to garden additions, and even vintage or antique treasures. Vans must be booked in. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. The following are the upcoming walks for Tinahely Walking Club. February 10: Ballycumbe­r, Level B, 12km, 3.5 hours. Meet Tinahely 10.30 a.m. February 17: Ballymanus, Level B, 10km, three hours. Meet Tinahely 10 a.m.

As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food and drink.

VARIETY GROUP

Tinahely Variety Group will present ‘Eclipsed’ by Patricia Burke Brogan in Tinahely Community Hall on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 6, to February 9 at 8 p.m. nightly, before embarking on the festival circuit.

‘Eclipsed’ tells the story of four women and an orphan girl in a Magdalene Laundry in 1963. The play explores the relationsh­ip between the women and the nuns and how society treated these women. The audience can expect to have plenty of laughs and perhaps at times shed a tear. They will meet Elvis Presley, witness his marriage and join in with some of his best known hits. When the curtain comes down, the audience will leave grateful for the fact that Ireland has moved on and happy in the knowledge that we will never forget.
