A start has been made to the. building of 40 plus houses on land above the top of Kilgarron Park. Final plans for the huge undertaking on lands surrounding the GAA grounds and above and below same.

New Rector: Rev’d.Cathy Hallissey has been appointed as Rector of Powerscourt and Kilbride. Rev’d. Hallisssey will be instituted on Friday, March 1 (St David’s Day) in Powerscourt Church. The preacher will be Rev’d. Cannon Appelbe, who will retire as rector of Rathmichael Parish at the end of this month. Pending the appointment of a new rector to Rathmichael Parish, the Archbishop of Dublin has appointed Rev’d. Terry Lilburn to take up parochial duties during the interregnum from March 1. Rev’d Lilburn has been doing exactly that during the interregnum in Powerscourt and Kilbride parishes right up to the March 1.

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults in the Archdiocese of Dublin: In 2015 Pope Frances, in writing to senior church figures, spoke about the need for families to know that the church is making every effort to protect children. The 197 parishes in the Dublin diocese have been working diligently for many years now to ensure this is the case. From January 2018 Archbishop Diarmuid Martin asked that the Diocesan Child Safeguarding and Protection Service include vulnerable adults in this work. The safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults is at the centre of Christ’s teachings and Gospel values. It is not something we do purely because it is the law, but rather it is very much at the core of our calling as Disciples of Christ. In our own immediate families, we always prioritise our children and those who are vulnerable. By applying this same logic to our parish family, we can ensure that our parishes are a safe and welcoming place for all.
Kilmacanogue First Responders: The parish council wish to thank John Hopkins and his team of Kilmacanogue First Responders for their Community #Save a Heart, CPR and Defibrillator demonstrations last Sunday week. Those, who took part can now make a difference to the life of a family member, loved one, friend or member of the public when emergency strikes. A huge thank you for all involved. We look forward to welcoming John and his team back again soon.

On Thursday, February 14, author, journalist, and historian Ken Finlay, from the Old Dublin Society will be the guest speaker for the February meeting of the Enniskerry History Society in the Powerscourt Arms and Country House Hotel, Enniskerry Village, at 8.30 p.m. at which he will present his lecture ‘Charles Cameron – Saving the City of Dublin’ – all welcome, admission €5.

Come along to ‘A Magical Evening of Music’ in St Laurence O’Toole Church Roundwood, on Sunday, February 10, at 4 p.m. There will be singers and musicians of all ages there to entertain with their beautiful songs and melodies. This concert is a fundraising event for the Caroline Foundation and their Give Us a Song Campaign for Cancer Research and also for Roundwood Cancer Support. There is no entry fee but all donations greatly accepted. There will also be refreshments afterwards in Roundwood Parish Hall for everyone and there will be a fabulous raffle too.
