Grand Slam

Spring has sprung. St Bridget announced the first day of spring last Friday, February 1 as the blanket of snow covered the ground. You must have faith to believe in such things. The snowdrops and daffodils are evidence of spring giving us hope.

The club held its last event of January last Wednesday and enjoyed a fun night. The winning pair were Harvey and Michael Ryan who lead the field by a wide margin from second placed pair of Catherine King and Anthea Goodbody. The club’s two Rose’s came next just a single point behind in third spot. They were Rose Behan and Rosemary Morrissey. In fourth place were husband and wife duo, Kay and Teddy Hickson.

Sympathy is passed on to to Ann McCarthy on an accidental incident on a recent trip to London. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

The beginner and novice hour from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. welcomed a new recruit to the game. There is no charge for this introduction to the game of bridge and the format is relaxed and easy going. Anyone who wishes to come along to the Dominican Ecology Centre on a Wednesday evening at 6.30 p.m. for a bit of fun and learn something new, will be most welcome.
