NATIONAL HILL SHEEP CONFERENCE
TEAGASC will host its National Hill Sheep Conference in Co Wicklow next week.
The conference will take place in the Glendalough Hotel at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, and will highlight a number of issues relevant to the hill sheep farming sector.
Two speakers will address the conference, Dr Peter Bates, a veterinary entomologist from the UK, and Bobby Lennox, a hill sheep farmer from Scotland.
The final section of the conference will be devoted to a panel discussion led by Darren Carty of the Irish Farmers Journal and featuring Dan McCarthy, Manager of Kenmare Mart, Brendan Joyce, a ill sheep farmer from Galway, and James Smyth from Irish Country Meats.
Each of the three speakers will give an overview of their current position within the industry and outline the key challenges and opportunities that see within sector going forward.
The conference is a Department of Agriculture KT approved event.
