Rathnew GAA 1885 is the club’s one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club is not run by anyone in our club.

The new ladies team is training every Tuesday night at 8pm with the juvenile girls training also on Tuesday at 7pm. New members are always welcome please contact Katrina 0878837577 to get involved.

The club has replaced and upgraded the equipment in the gym and its looking great. The membership for the gym is the cheapest around so if your interested contact Bobby 0851115514. Existing members please be aware that the code for the gym cannot be passed around and must stop immediatel­y.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 4th February. Numbers 9, 11, 19, 28. One match 3 Andrew Ledwith c/o Jap. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €9,400. Get your tickets from Doyle’s, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rocky’s, Healy’s Mini Market, Malone’s, Dowling’s butchers.

Tickets can now also be bought in Centra every Friday evening from 5.30 pm. The club would like to thank Mark in Centra for letting us sell our tickets in store.

Well done to Fionn O’Sullivan, Sean Coffey and Eoin Doyle for making the county minor panel for the 2019 season.

Our senior team got their season up and running with a 3-10 to 2-6 away victory against Kiltegan. It was great to see a few young lads getting a run with Dylan Smith making his first start. Jody Merrigan stole the show with a hat trick of goals. Next up is a home match against Tinahely on Sunday morning at 11am.

Congrats to both the senior ladies and senior men county teams on their impressive wins on Sunday in Aughrim as part of a doublehead­er. The ladies defeating Down 1-16 to 3-4 while the men defeated Limerick 2-8 to 1-6. Hopefully it’s the first of many doublehead­ers in the years ahead.

The club sends its condolence­s to the Murphy family Wicklow Town on the passing of Micheal (Mick) Murphy. Mick who was secretary of St. Pats Gaa club and former county secretary was a true Gaa man and will be a big loss to the hole county. May he rest in peace.

Also we send our condolence­s to the Farrell family in Newtown on the passing of Peter. Peter is a nephew of Seamus (Slasher) Farrell in Woodside. May he rest in peace.

ANNACURRA

The lotto numbers for November 4th were 1, 7, 17, 18. No jackpot winner so next week it is €4,800.

The intermedia­te team had their first league match against Dunlavin last Friday night. The game was tight but Dunlavin won by 3. Club membership is now due. With your membership you are entered in to a club draw for €1,000. In addition you will also be included in the draws for the All-Ireland hurling and football tickets. For an additional €50 you can use the gym for the year also.

HOLLYWOOD

Results of the Hollywood GAA Club Lotto Draw 7th February 2019. The numbers drawn were 2, 4, 20, 25. There was no Jackpot winner. The Sellers prize went to Jackie Allen (28). The €50 winners were Mikey Healy (71), Chanelle Traynor (288) and Seamus Tutty (499).

The next draw will be held in Tutty’s on 21st February. Thanks for your continued support. Tickets are on sale now for our Style Social Fundraisin­g event. It is taking place in Tulfarris on 23rd March 2019 at 7pm. Tickets are available online on the Style Social Facebook Page or from committee members. Membership is now due and can be paid online at hollywoodg­aa. com or to any committee member.

Hollywood play St Pat’s in Division 1 of the League in Hollywood at 8pm on Friday night. Please come out and support the team.

NEWTOWN

Newtown GAA extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Peter Farrell who very sadly passed away last week. Peter was a member of the winning minor team and a gentleman to all, he will be sorely missed and remembered by all. May he rest in peace.

Newtown seniors took on Eire Og on Thursday last in the first game of the league, final scoreline was 2-10 to 1-10. We were proud to see two Newtown men Mark Fitzsimons and Shane Mooney on the starting panel for Wicklow V Limerick in round 3 of the league on Sunday last.

Operation transforma­tion walks continue Thursdays at 7pm from the clubhouse. Well done to all who have taken part so far and to anyone else get up and get walking

Tickets are on sale for the national club draw, tickets are €10 and there are 20 excellent prizes.

Tickets can be bought in the post office or off any committee member.

There was no jackpot winner of last weeks lotto, numbers drawn were 2 7 21 24 and 9 people matched 3 numbers. This weeks jackpot was an even €4k.

BALLYMANUS

There was no lotto jackpot winner last weekend from 14,24,26,28. Sadie Byrne; Joyce Kinsella; Eimear Doyle; Alison, Zoey and Becky were all quick pick winners. Thanks to Deirdre O’Neill, and the trusty boot of Laura Hogan Tinahely, the club won a set of jearseys as part of a Persil competitio­n last weekend. Thanks a million Deirdre for your entry. Congrats to Mark and the rest of the Wicklow lads on a good win against Limerick last weekend. Hopefully they can continue their winning ways next against Derry away. Finally, the club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the extended family and friends of the late former county secretary Michael Murphy who sadly passed away recently. VALLEYMOUN­T

Our Lotto draw was held last weekend and there was no winner of the jackpot. The numbers were 7-13-18-19. The three €25 winners were Corine O’Connor, Ciara Nugent and Dermot Farrell. Our next lotto draw will be on Saturday 16th February with a jackpot of €7000. Congratula­tions and thanks for the support. Tickets are €2 and available from all members.The field is now open for training every Tuesday and Thursday. If you would like to use our facilities for walking, lights will be on from 7:30pm until 9pm on these nights. New faces also very welcome to train with the lads. The Junior A Championsh­ip draw was made and we will be in Group 1 along with Lacken/Kilbride, Shillelagh/ Coolboy, Hollywood, Blessingto­n and Aughrim. It was a sad day for all when we heard of the passing of our club Secretary Michael Murphy on Sunday morning. Michael was secretary of Wicklow GAA from 2004 to 2015 and is the current secretary of St. Patrick’s GAA Club and is Wicklow’s representa­tive on Leinster Council. Michael was born and raised in Ballincoll­ig, Co. Cork. He moved to Wicklow Town in June 1976 to work with An Post. After briefly playing for St. Patrick’s Michael took over as Juvenile Secretary of the club and over the years served on numerous committees including the Minor Board and the North District Board.In 2004 Michael was appointed as administra­tor of County Wicklow GAA. Michael quickly establishe­d himself as a popular and efficient fixture in the GAA community in Wicklow and with his provincial and national colleagues. Michael will be missed by all Wicklow Gaels players, members and officers near and far. A true Gael and one of life’s real Gentlemen.

Our sincere condolence­s to the family of Michael (Mick) Murphy of Friars Hill in Wicklow Town and late of Ballincoll­ig, Co. Cork, who passed away 10th February 2019, peacefully at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Angela, much loved father of Mark, Rhona and Ian, and dear brother of the late Tim and Bridget. He will be sadly missed by his family, sister Margaret, brother Liam, cousin Anne, daughter-in-law Aileen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandniece­s, grandnephe­ws, extended family and friends. Now at peace with loved ones. Michael will repose at Flannery’s Funeral Home, Bachelors Walk in Wicklow Town from 3.00pm until 8.00pm on Wednesday 13th February. Walking from Wicklow Tennis Club to arrive at St Patrick’s Church on Thursday morning 14th February for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by interment in Rathnew Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu, if desired, to the Liver Unit at St Vincent’s University Hospital. Donations can be made at the funeral home and Church. House private please.

As a mark of respect, at the sad passing of our Club Secretary, Michael Murphy, all club activities, Club Lotto, gym, hall and pitches are postponed for the remainder of this week.

A minute’s silence was held before the LGFA Division 3 NFL game between Kildare and Roscommon on the passing of Michael Murphy. St Patrick’s members officiated at the game.

Our County Champions started off their league campaign in 2019 with the visit of Baltinglas­s to Dunbur on Saturday afternoon in fabolous conditions. The game had a lively first half with both sides trading score for score. St. Pats went in at half-time St Pats 0-07 Baltinglas­s 0-06.
