Vagabond Tours wins on the double at the Irish Tourism Industry Awards

-

A WICKLOW company scooped the Best Ireland’s Ancient East Tourism Experience and the Best Environmental Tourism Initiative at the Irish Tourism Industry Awards 2019, which were held in Dublin last week.

The annual awards are organised by the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC), with 15 winning companies announced on the night.

One of the big winners was Vagabond Tours, based in Newtownmountkennedy, which specialises in vacations for people who don’t want a large group coach tour but still want to fully experience the place they are visiting. A Vagabond Tours experience generally ranges from seven to twelve days in length.

Rob Rankin of Vagabond Tours expressed delight with the double-win. Vagabond Tours was the only company on the night to win more than one award.

‘This is a great achievement for us and we are delighted to be recognised as winner in not one, but two categories. Tourism is vital for the national and regional economy and we are so pleased to play our part in such a key sector’.

The awards were hosted by Kathryn Thomas with Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, presenting the awards.
