Beavers earn chief awards

-

TWELVE hard working members of the 4th Wicklow Sea Scout Beavers received their Chief Scout Awards after six months of endeavour.

The award is centred around personal development and is only received by around one in 50 beavers across the whole country, making the achievement of the 4th Wicklow Sea Scout Beavers all the more memorable.

In order to achieve Chief Scout Award status, the successful Beavers had to attain special interest badges in skills, physical, community and environment. They then had to bring some badges up to Stage Two, take part in a 10k walk over six hours and camp out in the Dublin Mountains for two days and two nights.

Mick Keating, Beaver Section Leader said: ‘These awards were the result of six months of extremely hard work by the kids. It is also part of the International Award in the form of Gaisce – The President’s Award when they get older.’

The 4th Wicklow Sea Scout Beavers meet every Thursday in the Methodist Hal in Wicklow town from 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m.
