Town team to host women’s day lunch

Arklow Town Team will host its second annual Internatio­nal Women’s Day lunch on Friday, March 8.

The lunch takes place at the Arklow Bay Hotel from noon to 2.30 p.m. and the guest speakers will be journalist and broadcaste­r Valerie Cox, Wicklow County Council Heritage Officer Deirdre Burns and students from St Mary’s College in Arklow.

Internatio­nal Women’s Day provides an important opportunit­y to showcase commitment to women’s equality and to raise awareness.

The day is celebrated and supported globally by industry, government­s, community groups, charities, the media and many more. The theme for the 2019 event is ‘Balance for Better’.

Tickets are on sale for €25 and available from the Arklow Bay Hotel, Cllr Mary McDonald, Cllr Miriam Murphy and at the offices of Arklow Municipal District.

Proceeds from a raffle on the day will be donated to CEART Women’s Group.
