Arklow Music and Arts spread the love at Bridgewater Centre
Love was in the air last Thursday at Bridgewater Shopping Centre for the Arklow Music and Arts (AMA) Showcase.
Titled ‘Love is All Around’, the show included local talent who performed pieces that surrounded the theme of love for Valentines Day.
Colm Moules, PRO for Arklow Music and Arts, said the free concert was a chance for members to use the open space as a platform to showcase and perform their talents.
He added that any money donated to AMA on the day of the showcase will go towards a top of the range sound system for their much-anticpated Asgard Theatre that is set to open in the coming weeks.
The opening act of the showcase was Bri Elle Finn who won the Junior Section of the Christmas competition. She received a voucher for a chance to record her new single at Jimi Hemp Recording Studio sponsored by Anthony Proctor.
AMA, which has been working hard to raise money for this project since 2014, revealed that the black box style theatre will open upstairs at Kenny’s of the Harbour on Lower Main Street.
The venue was made available following an appeal by AMA seeking a suitable premises. Black box theatre, a recent innovation, is an increasingly popular model for accommodating the arts. Work on the second part of the project, Asgard Theatre 2, will commence later this year.
