Avondale works to start in 2020

-

PLANS to upgrade Avondale Forest Park are progressing well, Arklow Municipal District members were told at their February meeting.

Wicklow County Council Director of Services Michael Nicholson told the members that Coillte is moving ahead with the design and build stage, which should be finished by the end of June, with works to commence next year.

He confirmed that there were no appeals or objections to the plans.

‘This is great news and the economic spin-off for the whole of Wicklow will be huge. Wicklow has been starved of tourism projects for forever and a day and it’s time it was front and centre. This is a very welcome project,’ said Cllr Pat Kennedy.

Cllr Mary McDonald agreed and requested that the elected members are kept up to date with progress so that if there are any delays, that they are addressed in timely manner.

‘It’s a vote of confidence in Wicklow tourism,’ Mr Nicholson added.
