AFTER a long haul, national success has eventually come the way of Sheena Doyle.

A native of Wicklow town, whose parents are the well-known Aidan and Ann Doyle, Sheena, who now resides in Glenealy, put the small rural parish on the national map with a record-breaking effort at a national competition in Galway.

Competing in the Irish Drug Free Powerlifting Association (IDFPA) organised event, Sheena, who competes out of the WSF Barbell Club, demonstrated all her power and expertise to take her to national success.

Sheena, competing in the 1st Class 56 Kilos put in a huge performance in lifting her way to a national record and first place in the process breaking a national bench record at 60.5 kilos.

This was a remarkable display of power from Sheena who was enjoying her first success, having finished ninth in Monaghan in a similar competition a few weeks earlier.

Her success comes on the back of three years dedication to training and preparation under her coach Clara Jenkinson, to whom she pays so much tribute to in bringing her to the very top, while showing so much confidence in her progress over recent months.

Glenealy can feel proud of national success having come their way.
