Flynn twins ‘pear’ up with Druids Glen to create vegan dishes Hidden Valley victorious at Indo’s Reader Travel Awards

THE Druids Glen Hotel and Resort have joined forces with The Happy Pear to add a number of vegan dishes to their menus in the Garden Rooms and Bar.

There are five new vegan dishes added to the main menu and are spread across starters, main courses and desserts, including cauliflowe­r wings, the renowned buddha bowl, grilled jackfruit vegan ‘pulled pork’ sandwich, vegan pizza and vegan black forest cheesecake.

Druids Glen Chief Executive Chef Anthony Duggan, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have worked with Stephen and David to add these new vegan dishes to our Garden Rooms and Bar menu. We know more and more of our guests and customers are interested in trying vegan dishes, so it is fantastic that we have these on offer along with the excellent quality of The Happy Pear.

‘It is even better to be able to work with a fellow Wicklow business which the Irish public have come to know and love,’ he said.

The Happy Pear co-founders, David and Stephen Flynn, both used to work in the Druids Glen Golf Resort when they were younger and are looking forward to their new venture. WICKLOW took home a top prize in this year’s Irish Independen­t Reader Travel Awards, with Hidden Valley Holiday Park, Rathdrum, announced as ‘Ireland’s Favourite Small Stay.’

The Reader Travel Awards are run annually by the Irish Independen­t, with awards made this year under 16 different categories.

The awards were held in Dublin’s Cliff Townhouse and includes the presence of industry leaders such as industry leaders at the event included: Neven Maguire of MacNean House & Restaurant; Fern Allen of Ballymaloe; Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland; Tanya Airey, Managing Director of Sunway; and food writer Katy McGuinness.

Molly and Lloyd Williams, owners of Hidden Valley, were in attendance to accept the award.

Speaking afterwards they said: ‘We are overwhelme­d by this win. Thank you to all our customers who nominated us and voted for us. We are truly delighted to hear your comments. We will continue to strive to provide a safe and fun destinatio­n where it’s all about family time and making memories’.

Hidden Valley Holiday Park was formed in 2005 and is owned and operated by The Williams family, offering self-catering accommodat­ion, glamping, lodges and a caravan and camping area.
