A bench warrant was issued for a Wexford woman who did not appear at Arklow District Court last Wednesday in relation to a motoring charge.

Elizabeth Connors (37), 43 Carraig Bawn, Bunclody, Co Wexford, faces a charge of failing to wear a seatbelt at Main Street, Carnew, on January 9, 2019.

Judge John Cheatle issued a bench warrant for Ms Connors to appear on the matter. having no insurance at Ferrybank Arklow on May 28, 2019.

Solicitor Padraig Hyland told the court that Hilditch had pleaded guilty to the charge at a previous sitting of Arklow District Court, when Hilditch was asked to bring evidence that his son had been in hospital. Mr Hyland said Hilditch had received a phonecall telling him that his son had broken his arm and he was concerned it could be serious due to a previous injury.

Mr Hyland also told the court that Hilditch now cycles as he can’t afford insurance. The defendant is also dealing with other serious personal circumstan­ces, the court was told.

Judge John Cheatle imposed a fine of €350 with six months to pay. adjournmen­t.

Judge Cheatle noted that a report was prepared in May 2018 and asked why the defendant had not attended the necessary appointmen­ts.

Mr Hyland told the court that Bracken had moved address, but understand­s the need to comply with the probation service. He had a new mobile number and had agreed to speak to probation service before leaving the courthouse.

The case was adjourned until March 11.
