Asgard Theatre to host first in-house play next month

Roche. Next up will be Wicklow Town ICA with ‘The Perfect Arrangemen­t’, a sketch/short play by Mary Finlay. Glencullen Musical and DS will then present ‘The Rats’, a one-act mystery by Agatha Christie, before the Dalkey Players round out the night with ‘The Proposal’, a oneact comedy by Anton Chekov.

The final night of the festival, Sunday, January 26, will feature

Glencullen Musical and DS and ‘Give A Little Love’, a one-act comedy by Alan Stockdill. Next up will be Delgany DS with ‘The Game Is A Foote?’, a sketch/ short play by Peter Robbie. The last performanc­e of the festival will be by Avoca ICA, who will perform ‘Oh Mother!’, a one-act comedy by Andrew Perkins.

The adjudicato­r will be Martin Maguire. Tickets cost €10 and can be purchased on the door or by contacting 087 9833935.

Last year the Premier Award for Best Group was won by St Patrick’s Dramatic Society from Dalkey with their One Act Play ‘In Room Five Hundred And Four’ by Jimmie Chinn. Their director Judith Elmes won Best Director and cast member Hannah Blair White won the Adjudicato­r’s Actress Award.

The Asgard Theatre is to stage its first in-house production next month.

Eugene O’Brien’s ‘Eden’ will be performed in Arklow’s intimate venue on Friday, February at 8 p.m.

The play tells the story of Billy and Breda’s failing marriagne and a night out that will make or break their relationsh­ip.

The performanc­e will be directed by award-winning director Imelda McDonagh and feature actors Eamonn O’Sheil and Eadaoin Ni Lionain. Tickets are due to go on sale shortly from Plain and Pearl, Lower Main Street Arklow or www.gr8events.ie.
