Tesco gives €35k to local projects

-

THE Tesco Community Fund donated a total of €35,000 to local projects across Wicklow in 2019, Tesco Ireland has announced.

The fund supported over 100 local causes, which were nominated by local customers, throughout the year, including Avondale GAA Club, Bray Runners Club, Kilcoole Senior Citizens, Ashford Primary School, Wicklow Cancer Support and many more.

The current cycle of the Community Fund runs until February 1 and each Tesco store has three nominated local projects.

The three groups in Arklow are Avonmore Musical Society, Arklow Pantomime Creations and Arklow Tidy Towns. In Bray, customers can vote for Irish Girl Guides Bray, Titan’s Swimming Club or St Peter’s FC. Greystones customers can lend their support to Childhood Cancer Foundation, Greystones Cricket Club or Ballyrogan Vaulting Club. The options for shoppers at Tesco Express in Kilcoole are Kilcoole Music Festival, Colaiste Chraobh Abhann and Kilcoole GAA. And finally, the choices for shoppers in Wicklow town are Canteen Ireland, Wicklow Meals on Wheels and the Wicklow and District Schoolboy League.

Customers can vote with their blue tokens for their preferred project. At the end of each phase, blue token votes are counted and up to €1,000 is shared proportionally between the three local causes
