Avonmore fight back to take points

Avonmore FC fought back from a goal down against Ashford Rovers to earn a 3-1 victory at Ballinalea Park that keeps their Andy McEvoy Premier Division title hopes alive.
Ryan Beale fired the home side in front, but Avonmore rallied and goals from Callum Pursey, Cian O hAnnáin and Ryan Cahill earned them a precious three points.
Wicklow Rovers recorded a 5-0 away win over Arklow Celtic with Riain Sweetman, Brian Harrington, Hillary Khumbalo and Jamie Power getting on the scoresheet and an own goal adding to their tally.
Rathnew picked up three points when they were handed a walkover from Carnew AFC.
Meanwhile, Glencormac United edged out Newtown United in a seven-goal thriller (see focus match).
Pat O’Toole Division 1
Table-toppers Aughrim Rangers added three points to their tally on Sunday when overcoming Coolboy Rangers 2-0 at Coolboy Community Sportsfield. Pádraig Byrne and Jordan Quigley got the goals for the visitors.
Second-placed Roundwood had to settle for a share of the spoils when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Derry Rovers in Clonegal.
Damien Johnson put the visitors ahead but Rovers levelled through Jason Cowman.
Conary United are also very much in the hunt and on Sunday they stormed to a comfortable success, hitting Avonmore for six goals without reply.
Andy Doyle hit the back of the net five times, with PJ Fluskey also getting in on the act.
Ballywaltrim got a welcome win on the board when overcoming Arklow Celtic 6-4, thanks to doubles from Lee Caulfield and James Glynn and a goal apiece from Jonathan Percy and Barry Golden.
Paul Lacey, Jason Rowlands, Gary McLoughlin and Paul O’Connor got on the scoresheet for Celtic.
Carnew handed a walkover to Shamrock Celtic.
John Tobin Youth League
Wicklow Town continued their seemingly unstoppable march to the John Tobin Youth League title with a 6-1 win over Wicklow Rovers Under-17s on Saturday.
Dylan Kavanagh netted a hat-trick for the league leaders, while Ross Quinn and Reilly Hogan chipped in with one apiece and an own goal added to their tally.
Seán Murphy hit the back of the net for Rovers. Elsewhere, Arklow United picked up three points without having to kick a ball as they were handed a walkover from Aughrim Rangers.
