St Teresa’s Boxing Club needs temporary home after sale

-

St. Teresa’s Boxing Club are seeking a temporary home after they were made homeless following the sale of the building they were operating out of in recent weeks.

The club and local representatives are calling on business owners and property owners who might have a vacant unit or a building now empty due to the Covid-19 emergency to allow them use it and maintain it in the short-term until a permanent base can be found for the popular club.

Speaking last Saturday morning to the Wicklow People, Bray Town Councillor Aoife Flynn Kennedy said that to lose a club like St. Teresa’s in a town like Bray would be a ‘disaster’.

‘Ideally, we’d love if someone out there had a premises that they were willing to offer to us because it’s not going to be forever,’ she said. ‘We’re hoping that the legal issues will be sorted out (with Bray Boxing Club) and we’ll be back there but even for a short-term because the level of skill and the options that this club is offering to people in our community is just phenomenal. And we need more of that in the town, where it doesn’t matter whether you have money and it doesn’t matter what your background is. If you have an interest in getting involved you just go and get involved. If we lose this club it will be such a massive loss. We just can’t let it happen,’ she added.
