May 2005
TESCO now aim to have their 24-hour petrol filling station up and running later this year, it was revealed at the weekend.
The Wexford Road superstore, the biggest Tesco store on the east coast outside Dublin, is in the process of seeking planning permission to expand its new €10.6 million store by a quarter of its present 40,000 square feet size and move the location for the petrol filling station.
Last Friday, Tesco celebrated its first birthday at its new store with the cutting of a birthday cake by Lucy Kavanagh, who is the longest serving staff member in Arklow, working for the supermarket since it first opened in October 1978.
The birthday was also marked by Tesco awarding customers triple points with their purchases over a period of a month.
