Druids Glen plan for a new two-storey clubhouse

-

DRUIDS Glen Hotel and Golf Resort have submitted plans to demolish existing offices at the Woodstock Demesne, Newtownmountkennedy site to allow for the construction of a new two storey golf clubhouse.

The planning application was submitted to Wicklow County Council by Neville Hotels on behalf of the Druids Glen Hotel and Golf Resort and a decision is due from the planning authority by July 18.

The new clubhouse will include changing rooms, members bar and kitchen facilities. Permission is also sought for internal alterations to kitchens and staff areas and change of use of existing residential unit to clubhouse/office use at the protected structure Woodstock House, together with all ancillary site works.

Halley Murphy and Associates are the architects leading the project. The proposed new building will sit in the existing yard area and link to the existing service wing to share existing kitchens and stores and back of house facilities. Existing spaces with Woodstock House vacated by the current golf changing rooms will be converted to meeting rooms and offices and staff facilities at a future stage similar to those already provided within the building currently.

The current bar and dining room will remain in operation to serve corporate functions and meetings whilst also providing alternative on site dining for hotel guests. The pro shop/check-in area will be moved to the new clubhouse facility. The existing area will be retained for office use. The existing car par provides approximately 150 spaces currently, which is considered adequate for the new development.
