Wicklow Lions to help homeless

-

WICKLOW and District Lions Club has been invited to join other Lions Clubs throughout Ireland in a very unique ‘Pizza Party for the Homeless’ this coming Saturday.

It’s normally a Dublin Lions project when the guests are brought to the GPO every year for a part, but due to restrictions this year the party will be brought to the guests. The event will be organised in a way that will be safe for both the guests and staff of numerous Simon hostels, as well as the Lions members involved.

Instead of one large event this year it will be spread out over 50 hostels and run in partnership with the homeless organisations and other agencies.

Main organiser Frank O’Donoghue said, ‘Homeless people have a need for a fun evening and this has been confirmed by agencies working with the homeless. It is important for Lions to continue to demonstrate a commitment and empathy with the homeless. I am delighted that Wicklow has come on-board for this project and become fully engaged in such a positive way.’

As well as the food, the evening will also feature a music programme, which will be available on YouTube. Wicklow Lions will also provide their own music segment, which will be launched on the evening on the party. Wicklow Lions thank Kevin in The Grey Dog in Wicklow town for supplying the pizzas. Kevin, who also owns the very popular Brass Fox, is a great supporter of Wicklow Lions Club.

As well as pizzas, Wicklow Lions members will also arrange soft drinks, chocolates and other treats for the guests.
