Vichy introduces two mineral facial masks that are easy to use and add only five minutes to the cleansing regimen. The Double Glow Peel Mask, a gentle pink mask made with ground volcanic rock and AHA fruit acids, gently peels off dead cells through a double-peel action, resulting in smooth, radiant skin. The double-peel action refines skin texture and reveals a fresh glow and luminous tone. While the face mask is on the skin, it chemically exfoliates with AHAs; then the volcanic rock provides a mechanical exfoliation when you rinse it off. The second mask, the Pore Purifying Clay Mask, has two ultra-fine white clays, kaolin and bentonite, with Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water. It helps eliminate excess sebum and impurities for purified pores and softer skin. Both wash off easily, leaving the skin refreshed and ready for moisturizing.

NIS 119. Available at private pharmacies.

Osem has launched a line of new seasoning soup mixes, such as lentil, piquant legumes and root vegetables. The mixes can be used to flavor soups and stews, making the preparation much faster and easier. The new flavors have been added to Osem’s Natural Ingredients line. In addition, Osem is joining the healthful trend with a variation on two of its flagship products: chicken soup and chicken flavored soup with 33% less sodium. The company says that after a year-long endeavor of research and development, it has succeeded in producing the reduced-sodium soup mixes without compromising the flavor.

If you have a Nespresso coffee machine, you may vary your regular flavors with the new limited-edition winter holiday collection inspired by what the company calls “childhood sweet.” The new flavors include coconut-vanilla, chocolate-coated orange peel, and licorice. International designer duo Craig and Karl designed the capsules and packaging, adding a humorous touch to the otherwise elegant Nespresso line. All the new coffee blends are made from 100% Arabica beans, have caramelized notes and round body.

NIS 25.50 for a sleeve containing 10 capsules. Also from Nespresso – espresso cups designed by Craig and Karl, as well as thermal cups. Available at or call *2500.

As December approaches, so does the annual gift-shopping debate – what to buy for friends, colleagues or family abroad for Hanukka and the New Year. My choice (one I suspect my friends abroad have come to rely on) are the gift packages of Ben-Ezer Plantations. The gift boxes are comprised of premium products made in Israel, such as citrus fruit – red grapefruit and oranges grown on the Ben-Ezer plantations – gourmet chocolates, wine and olive oil. This year, Ben-Ezer has added Castel premium wines, quality chocolate pralines and a selection of dried fruit, nuts and almonds. Choose from a variety of 50 boxes.

NIS 329 and up, including delivery.

“Everyone glows at the magic hour of sunset,” says Lori Taylor Davies, Smashbox makeup artist. “That is why we created this primer – to recreate the magical hour 24/7. The primer is enriched with advanced hydration for healthy skin and perfect makeup application.”

I love Smashbox makeup solutions. The company always manages to find new ideas to help render better results easily. This time, they really outdid themselves. The new Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Radiance is a moisturizing primer cream that can be applied before foundation, giving the skin a healthy glow. The primer has a satin-smooth formula that instantly illuminates, perfects and enhances radiance while hydrating the skin for better makeup application. I tried it and got so many “You look great” compliments that I had to believe it. Apply a thin layer on the face before makeup or use as a highlighter over makeup.

NIS 195.

The new Infallible Total Cover Foundation by L’Oréal Paris provides up to 24-hour total cover. Yet when it is applied, it feels weightless and renders a natural-looking finish. The foundation quickly covers dark spots, blemishes, scars, and hyperpigmentation for a flawless-looking complexion. The full coverage foundation is formulated with high load pigments and is enriched with Alliagel.

For even better results, L’Oréal Paris suggests using its new concealer palette under the foundation. Professional makeup artists use different colored concealers to achieve a more even, perfect-looking skin, and now you can too. The multicolored concealers help hide dark under-eye circles (use one of the orange concealers); conceal red spots (use the green concealer); or illuminate areas (use the light blue-purple shade).

Special introductory prices until the end of November: NIS 80 for the foundation; NIS 65 for the concealer palette.

The skin around the eyes is among the thinnest and most delicate on the body. Thus it one of the first areas to show signs of stress. Stress Positive Eye Lift by Dermalogica creates a lifting effect, as well as tightening and lightening the eye area. The cooling cream-gel mask revitalizes the skin while reducing visible signs of stress, thanks to a high-performance formula which the company says minimizes puffiness and dark circles, increases skin luminosity, lifts the eye area and helps restore skin barrier integrity. The mask ingredients include wild indigo seeds to brighten and help reduce under-eye circles; seawater extract and Arctic algae to counter puffiness; and fermented yeast and hyaluronic acid to firm skin and help generate a lifting effect. Formulated without artificial colors or fragrances, it really works, says our tester.

NIS 410. Available around the country at Dermalogica points of sale, where beauticians also demonstrate how to use the product. Call 073-210-2030 or go to www.dermalog

For the first time in Israel, the David Citadel Hotel is providing the Bulgari line of amenities for its guests. I know that most people don’t choose a hotel based solely on the amenities provided in the rooms, but when it comes to Bulgari, that may actually tip the scales. Established in Italy in the 19th century, Bulgari, known for its exclusive jewelry, has expanded in recent years into the luxurious world of scents, soaps and body lotions. The Bulgari amenities at the David Citadel, which include soaps, scent and more, are available for the hotel’s guests in the rooms and public areas as part of the management’s desire to envelop their clientele with prestige and exclusivity throughout their stay.

Local makeup guru Adah Lazorgan has launched a new compact palette for eyebrows, as well as eye shadows that can be used wet or dry. The compact palette comes with a small angled brush and is ideal for those with only three minutes to spare on eyebrows and eye liner in the morning. Keep the kit in your purse for touch-ups or if you’re going out right after work. Using the wet brush, outline the eyebrows and eyelash line. Let dry. Then use a dry brush to blur the edges for a natural-looking finish.

NIS 277 for the palette and the No. 9 brush. www.adahlazor

Clinique’s BIY (Blend It Yourself) Pigment Drops is just the answer for those who are tired of having too many products in their makeup drawer. Saving time and space, BIY turns every moisturizer into a BB (beauty balm), CC (color correcting) or even a full-cover foundation. One drop of Clinique BIY Pigment Drops creates sheer cover, while adding two or three drops renders a flawless finish. Since Clinique BIY takes on the finish of the moisturizer you blend it with, using an anti-shine moisturizer will result in a more matte finish, while using moisturizer that contains optics will result in a radiant finish. The pure pigments float in a clear formula that comes in two stages. Choose your shade, mix the pigment in the formula and shake. Then use with moisturizer whenever needed.

My short weekend trips have become more fun than ever with my new Mandarina Duck Popsicle carry-on trolley, which is both fun and practical. The trolleys, made by the high-end Italian fashion brand Mandarina Duck, have a polycarbonate hard shell that is transparent, revealing the color of the module inside, which is used to organize your items. (If you don’t use a module, the clear trolley will show everything that is packed inside). The storage modules are easily removed from the trolley and can be transferred to a closet or drawer when you arrive at your destination. The modules are purchased separately, to match your needs and for added fun. The trolleys are lightweight, have four wheels for easy maneuvering, a TSA lock and high-quality zippers.

NIS 770 for a cabin trolley; NIS 899 for a medium-size trolley. The internal modules are NIS 150 for the cabin trolley and NIS 180 for the medium trolley. Available in Israel at Top Tik stores and online at
