New and kosher for Passover

The upcoming holiday is an opportunity to investigate new and interesting options. Here are a few.

-

Passover croutons

The famous chicken soup is a must on the Seder’s dinner table – but if your family cannot imagine soup without the Israeli croutons – i.e. Shkedim, Gluterie now offers kosher for Passover gluten-free shkedim. The kids love them. NIS

13.90 to NIS 14.90.

Spelt matzah

Matzah is not the best food for your digestion, but the new whole spelt matzah may be just what the doctor ordered. Known for its quality and different type of gluten, spelt has more protein than regular wheat as well as more fiber, minerals and vitamins. Worth a try.

NIS 18.90 to NIS 19.90 for 300 gram.

White balsamic vinegar

Balsamic vinegar is wonderful for salad dressing, but the dark color is sometimes not what you look for when dressing a festive salad for the holiday table. Now available in Israel for the first time is the kosher white balsamic vinegar by Italian maker Giacobazzi. Made in Modena, Italy the white balsamic vinegar is perfect for seasoning both fresh and cooked vegetables as well as cheeses and more. Kosher for Passover, NIS

17.90 to NIS 24.

Smoked cod liver

Kosher for Passover smoked cod liver by Officer is now available in Israel and it is a perfect nosh with drinks just before dinner. The smoked fish liver imported to Israel by Diplomat is rich in Omega 3 and vitamins A and D. We liked it as a spread on the matzah. Kosher NIS 13.90.

Mustard with radish

Radish is one of the holiday’s staple foods, but if you prefer mustard with your meat – try this new kosher for Passover mustard with radish by Reine de Dijon. Great as a relish and perfect in cooking, the Bourgogne-made mustard is wonderful for your holiday roast. NIS 9.9 to NIS 13.9.

Vegan spread

Vega imports another clever vegan product, one that I am sure to get for my lactose-intolerant grandkids. Vigo Hazelnut and cocoa spread is a rich and velvety spread for sandwiches, pancakes, cakes and filled cookies. Use for desserts after meat meals, and for

Passover’s staple nosh – chocolate spread on matzo. Perfect. NIS 25.90. Available in nature shops, supermarkets and at vegafoods.co.il.
