JDC lifts lives and strengthens communities worldwide, as it has for more than a century, making the organization essential to the survival of millions of people and the advancement of Jewish life across the globe.

Providing Aid to Vulnerable Jews

JDC ensures the basic needs, such as food and medicine, of tens of thousands of elderly Jews and families around the world living in dire poverty are met, providing them with a sense of security in the knowledge that the global Jewish community will never let them down. The organization serves some 55,000 of these people on any given day.

Cultivating a Jewish Future

From Havana to Budapest, Mumbai to Kiev, JDC strengthens Jewish life and identity by partnering with local Jews and Jewish communities to build a new generation of Jewish leaders and institutions positioned for tomorrow. Last year alone, more than 84,000 Jews around the world helped shape the future of Jewish life through JDC.

Rescuing Jews in Danger

As Jews still face threats globally – anti-Semitism, violence, and social and economic upheaval – JDC is there to help Jewish communities live safely wherever they choose. And when those threats endanger Jewish lives or Jewish life, JDC springs to action as the 9-1-1 of the Jewish people. Since 1914, 1 million-plus Jews have been rescued by JDC with its partners.

Leading the Jewish Response to Global Crises

When natural disasters or other calamities strike, JDC helps communities of all faiths rebuild. The organization also addresses endemic poverty, food insecurity, and the plight of refugees. JDC has responded to crises in 68 countries, ensuring aid for 300,000 Haitians following the island’s deadly 2010 earthquake, and benefitting Africa’s poorest farmers through Tikkun Olam Ventures (TOV), a JDC and Government of Israel initiative bringing Israeli AgTech and Jewish philanthropy to developing nations.
