Cutting Edge: The Davidoff Center at Beilinson is at the forefront of cancer treatment
The Davidoff Cancer Center, Israel’s largest oncology hospital, is doubling its size with an investment of NIS 200 million - the story of a breakthrough center in Israel
When people talk about the world’s leading cancer centers, they talk about the Davidoff Center. The vision of the Davidoff family, which donated the funds for the center’s establishment, was to establish an international center that provides care for all peoples and religions. The family’s vision has come to fruition and the center has become a beacon that leads the way in cancer care. These days, the Davidoff family has decided, in a rare move, to donate again for the center’s construction and development. The Davidoff Center is expected to double in size in the next two years and become one of the world’s largest cancer treatment centers. This is a huge expansion project. The Davidoff Center - the leading and most innovative center in the Middle East for the treatment of malignant diseases - is doubling its size and will now include 12 floors and 3 more parking levels for the benefit of patients. A real oncology hospital dedicated entirely to treating cancer patients.
The establishment of the Davidoff Center in the previous decade set new standards for treating cancer patients in Israel: personalized medicine, an oncology pharmacy, the Disease Management Team (DMT), an allcomputerized hospital and a panel of top-notch specialists.
The expansion project was launched in light of life expectancy increasing and the great demand of cancer patients from all over the country to receive treatment at Davidoff. The impressive construction program is being funded by a donation from the second generation of the Davidoff family (which was responsible for the initial contribution for the establishment of the center), in partnership with Clalit Health Services and Beilinson Hospital.
Israel Doctors International Medicine
The Davidoff Center is exceptional in the field of cancer medicine in Israel. Prof. Baruch Brenner, director of the Davidoff Center: “It is the first comprehensive cancer center in Israel and has the largest scope of activity. Many of the leading experts in Israel work here.” From the early stages of its founding, it was decided to invest resources in training manpower in the world’s leading frameworks.
The Davidoff Foundation has helped train more than 100 people who treat cancer, funded the professional development of physicians, nurses and other professionals at the world’s leading centers such as Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) in New York, MDACC in Houston or Dana-Farber in Boston. “We choose where our doctors and nurses are going to train, and we have close relationships with the world’s largest cancer centers. The extensive activity that takes place at Davidoff is overseen by an international board, whose members are among the world’s leading experts. Today the Davidoff Center is at the forefront of cancer centers and, as such, maintains professional and scientific relationships with the major centers in the United States, “says Prof. Brenner.
The Davidoff Center develops high-quality physicians who, besides having outstanding medical skills, also have the ability to “see the patient.” Experts from the center are sought in Israel and worldwide for managing large-scale oncology projects. Recently, a physician from Beilinson was also selected to be the first Israeli in the prestigious leadership program of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
