I read the September 16 cover story (“Unbroken Familial Bonds”) with much interest, as it struck very close to home. My wife Jane is a convert, as are two of our children from her first marriage. We subsequent­ly adopted two boys who were put up for adoption by their non-Jewish birth parents. We converted both of them as well. Only my son from my first marriage and I did not require conversion.

I can look back and see that everything has turned out for the best. The old saying “You should lead an interestin­g life” has proven to be absolutely true in our case.
