MIXED MIRTH

-

I read Barry Newman’s September 16 letter (“Dating in the dark”) with much amusement. It refers to blind dating; one in particular was so ridiculous – the guy turning up to his date’s parents’ home with candy plus his tefillin, in case it turned out to be an overnighter – I was left with the impression he must have escaped from an institution.

The other letter by Stephen Vishnick soon removed the amusement when he wrote in reply to Herb Keinon’s article (“Figuring out the happy Israeli”) that although we have a high cost of living, housing issues, hostile neighbors and traffic manners that need addressing, nowhere else can a Jew truly say with a smile, “I’m home” and know that’s the truth and nothing but the truth. Unfortunately, there is the inconvenient truth which is that our “home”’ is more under the control of our enemies than its rightful owners.

Mr. Vishnick and other dreamers must recognize that until the Temple Mount and Jerusalem are under full Israeli control, which will also pertain to the rest of the land, we have no home. We are the Zionist occupiers of Arab land. EDITH OGNALL
