Terrorist Wakf head angers Hebron Jews

- • By TOVAH LAZAROFF

Hebron settlers protested the recent appointment of Taysir Abu Sneina to head the city’s Wakf Islamic trust, which includes oversight of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Cave of the Patriarchs. Sneina was behind a 1980 attack against Hebron Jews in Beit Hadassah in which six young men were killed. He was arrested by Israel and released in a prisoner swap. On his facebook page he has identified himself as the man behind the attack. Hebron’s Jewish community spokesman David Wilder said it was unheard of to have a “murderer” in charge of one of the most sensitive sites in Judea and Samaria. Last Friday, when the cave was closed to Jewish worshipers but open to Muslim visitors, two mezuzah’s were stolen. They were replaced on Thursday. Jerusalem Post staff contributed to this report.
