Classes in South to be held as scheduled today

- • By LIDAR GRAVÉ- LAZI

As of Thursday evening, classes in all Gaza envelope communities were scheduled to resume Friday morning. There was no indication this would change, a security source said. Schools in the South opened as usual Thursday morning. However, by midday, the Gan Yavne Municipality, without any official instruction from the IDF Home Front Command, announced the closure of middle schools and high schools and sent pupils home. Parents were told they could pick up their children early from elementary schools, while preschools and kindergartens stayed open throughout the day. The Ashdod Municipality announced the closure of “unprotected schools” and called on parents to pick up their children. In Ashkelon, the municipality did not announce any school closures but many parents picked their children up early.
