Strike at Discount Bank on Tuesday
The Israel Discount Bank workers committee has called a one-day strike on Tuesday, March 18. It is calling the action a “warning strike” to protest what it calls “foot-dragging” by management. The strike will come the day before executive bonuses are paid. “On Wednesday, bank executives will receive bonuses equal to 12 monthly salaries, before a labor contract for 2013 is signed with the bank’s employees,” said the workers committee. “We’ve shown great patience for months, primarily to minimize the harm to customers. It is unacceptable that the bank’s management takes bonuses when it will not sign a labor contract for the previous year with the workers.”
