LeBron engages fans on Twitter
Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James’ Tuesday night Twitter Q&A reminded us that the NBA superstar isn’t so different from the thousands of eager Tweeters that flooded in.
“My brother thinks you’re superman,” one user commented.
“Mix between him and Batman!” replied James, reminding us of his human, non-superstar side.
LeBron may already have the power of flight, defying gravity on the basketball court, but if he could choose another power for a day, he said it would be teleportation.
Hopefully, fictional physicist Sheldon Cooper of television’s The Big Bang Theory, one of his favorite shows, hasn’t shattered that dream. James ended his Q&A session to catch a rerun of series, which he said never fails to make him laugh – that, along with movies The 40 Year Old Virgin, Old School, and classic cartoon Tom and Jerry.
His music preferences are equally mainstream: His favorite rap artist is Jay Z, and his favorite song is, hands down, “March Madness” by Future.
Of course, while James did a good job establishing himself as a personable, highly relatable man, he was not without his signature, well-deserved ego.
Another movie he cited as a favorite was one that he starred in. (Fortunately for him, Trainwreck is not living up to its title, with many critics praising LeBron’s performance in particular.)
Likewise, when one Tweeter asked how it felt to be “losing all the time,” James fired back: “Not sure cause I do more winning than losing my friend.”
Indeed he does: LeBron’s NBA teams have won 719 of 1,089 combined regular season and playoff games, 66.
James was not without his signature element of mystery, either. What had fans most disappointed, perhaps, is that he did not disclose whether Space Jam 2 was a go.
“Maybe,” he wrote. “Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.”
He may not have denied it, but neither did he deny that he would be leaving the Cavaliers for the Miami heat in 2010 – or that he was returning, five years later.
Of the thousands of questions – some silly, others thoughtful – the busy superstar only managed to get to 40, leaving his 22.7 million Twitter followers hoping that this is not his last Q&A.
