1. Creative Leadership
Publicist Gideon Amichai, creative director at the Tel Aviv and New Yorkbased advertising boutique “No, No, No, No, No, Yes,” received an international award last week at the graduation ceremony of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. He had been invited by the school’s president, Michael Conrad, to address the graduates of the prestigious program, because of a special meaning for Amichai – he had been a member of the very first class of the school a decade ago.
2. Michael Edri
Five months after making aliya, French artist Michael Edri opened his own gallery on Hayarkon Street in Tel Aviv. The gallery, which is a twin copy of Edri’s gallery in Marseilles, France, displays works of pop art. Attending the gallery opening were Yitzhak Eldan, president and founder of The Ambassadors’ Club, conductor Gil Shohat, and Rachel Weizmann.
3. Keshet Eilon Music Center
Last Wednesday at the Tel Aviv Opera House, the Keshet Eilon Music Center held a gala event to mark the end of this year’s international summer course. Managing director of the Keshet Eilon Music Center, Gilad Sheba, and Executive Committee Director Itzick Sharir hosted business people and diplomats who came to hear young musicians from the Western Galilee play their string instruments. Among the guests were Raya Strauss, Ben Dror, Aki Shavit, Yoram Oron, Tzvika Birenbaum, Shalom Singer, Nava Barak, Galia Maor, Aryeh Mintkevich, Avi Stefak, Gad Propper and Ruth Cheshin.
4. Nutz
The Israel Ballet held the premiere of a new show called Nutz at Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium, in cooperation with fashion company Renuar. The production, which was inspired by the classic Nutcracker, is the brainchild of director Elad Weissman, who combined music by Tchaikovsky with modern sounds from DJ Tomer Meisner and violinist Yuri Ravitz. Israel Ballet Director-General Lea Lavie, Deputy Director Amit Somech, and board member Yaffa Vigodsky watched as 30 dancers wearing Renuar outfits moved artistically around the stage. Among the attendees were Guy and Dana Blosinski, Jack and Betty Crystal, who is honorary president of WIZO UK, and Renuar VP Marketing Michelle Tamir.
5. Boost Your Business
Last week, Facebook Israel and the Israel Chamber of Commerce held an event titled Boost Your Business, which was attended by over 300 Israeli small-business owners. The goal of the event was to provide participants with tools to expand their businesses through social networking on Facebook and Instagram. Among the speakers at the conference were Uriel Lynn, the president of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce and Facebook Israel CEO Adi Soffer Teeni, who gave a speech about how the digital revolution offers small businesses the opportunity to join the competition in the world of major brands.
