Group to tackle hi-tech labor shortage

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has assembled a team to focus on solving personnel shortages in the hi-tech industry. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the team’s mission is twofold: train workers, engineers and technician­s, and provide incentives for new immigrants to work in hi-tech. “Hi-tech is a very important engine for growth and progress in the State of Israel,” Netanyahu said. “There are highly qualified people in Jewish communitie­s around the world, and we must do everything necessary to bring them to Israel.” Netanyahu will chair the team, whose members include Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, Interior Minister Arye Deri, Immigratio­n and Absorption Minister Sofa Landver, Science, Technology and Space Minister Ofir Akunis, and Jewish Agency chairman Natan Sharansky. • Sharon Udasin
