1. Kira Radkinski
Maccabi Tel Aviv sporting director Jordi Cruyff met recently with Dr. Kira Radkinski, a graduate of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, who specializes in the scientific prediction of the future and has sold her technology to eBay. Cruyff, a technology buff, said that he finds people like Radkinski who think out of the box incredibly interesting, and that he’d love to know if his team’s going to win this year’s state championship.
2. Haim Saban
Haim Saban, chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group, arrived this week in Israel and spent a few hours discussing strategy and business development with a number of heads of Israeli startups that the Saban Ventures Fund supports, including Shaul Olmert’s Playbuzz, IronSource, and Everysight. Among others, Saban met with Adam Chesnoff, president and CEO of Saban Capital, and Barak Pridor, managing partner at Saban Ventures.
3. Cookies for Kids
Ceramic artist Sivan Sternbach was invited to the Big Apple to participate in a fund-raising event for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. All the proceeds of the non-profit, which was founded by Gretchen HoltWitt, go to pediatric cancer research. Sternbach and other artists from around the world donated proceeds from pieces of their artwork that were sold during the evening to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. The evening opened with cocktails and continued with a lovely dinner prepared by Mario Batali and other renowned New York chefs.
4. Magshimim Challenge
More than 200 teens who are members of the Magshimim national cyber program joined forces with Check Point employees last Thursday night in their Tel Aviv offices to take part in the White Night competition in which they had to solve riddles and crack cyber codes. The Magshimim program was founded by the Rashi Foundation, the Defense Ministry, ECI, and the Daniel, Adelis and Davidson Foundations. During the evening, a number of community leaders spoke with the Magshimim participants, including Check Point CEO Gil Shwed, Military Intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Herzl Halevy, chairman of the Rashi Foundation Gabi Ashkenazi, Rashi Foundation president Hubert Leven, and Daniel Jusidman of the Daniel Foundation.
5. Kasim Tech
This past Monday night, Jewish and Arab Israeli hi-tech leaders gathered in Kafr Kasim for an exciting program dedicated to entrepreneurship and innovation. The event was coordinated by Yanki Margalit and Hans Schor. Attending were Kafr Kasim Mayor Adel Badir, Hans Schor, Norman Issa, Sami Sa’adi, Paz Hirschman, Eyal Waldman, Rami Bracha, Dov Moran, Yizhar Shai, Adi Sofer-Teeni, Yossi Matias, and Gigi Levy.
