1. Kabbala Center
Last Thursday, the Kabbala Center in Tel Aviv, headed by spiritual director Karen Berg, hosted the wives of diplomats for a lecture with the center’s main teacher, Avner Madar. Participating in the event were Janice Gillerman, wife of former Israel ambassador to the UN, Dan Gillerman; Michelle Mo, wife of the Myanmar ambassador to Israel; Daniella Oren, chairwoman of the Wives of Diplomats Club; Tzipi Ben-Shefer, president of the club; and Natalie Maimon, Honorary Consul of France in Israel.
2. Zandman
Last Wednesday, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art premiered the movie The Final Victory: The Story of Felix Zandman. The movie is based on the life story of Dr. Felix Zandman, who founded the global concern Vishay. The film begins with how Zandman survived the Shoah by hiding when he was just a child, and ends with the establishment of Vishay, an international electronic components company and his contribution to Israel’s security. There to watch the film were Orna Porat Theater director Miki Yerushalmi; Limor Livnat; theater director Ran Gueta; Ruta Zandman, Felix’s widow, and family members Chava and Alfred Akirov.
3. Tzahala Sports Club
Early Saturday morning, over 1,600 women and men showed up to run in the Tzahala Sports Club competition to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the neighborhood run. For every runner, the club, led by CEO Tzvika Ron, donated NIS10 to the children at Variety Israel. Among the participants were Opposition chairman Isaac Herzog and his wife Michal; former minister Avi Gabbay; and Yehuda Ben-Assayag, CEO of Menora Mivtachim.
4. Spectrum
CEO Eyal Waldman and other representatives of Mellanox Technologies participated in a Spectrum event in Tokyo, Japan last week at the Toranomon Hills Complex. Waldman presented the company’s latest developments in networking and computer systems. The audience included 300 senior Japanese economics officials, Israel Ambassador to Japan Ruth Kahanoff and the economics attaché, Noa Asher.
5. Dwight Yorke
Legendary football player Dwight Yorke, formerly of Manchester United, arrived last week in Israel for a visit at the invitation of beer producer Heineken, in order to star in the company’s promotional activities. Yorke was hosted at the home of a fan and together they watched the quarter final match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Later, Yorke met up with his friend Jordi Cruyff, Maccabi Tel Aviv’s sports director.
