Emmys 2017: So many Jewish nominees
On Thursday, the Television Academy announced the nominees for the coveted Primetime Emmy Awards. Sci-fi drama Westworld and satirical sketch show Saturday Night Live led with 22 apiece in a list stuffed with new contenders that reflected a booming era for television. The crowded race includes British royal series The Crown and supernatural mystery Stranger Things, both on Netflix; Hulu’s breakout dystopian women’s series The Handmaid’s Tale and NBC’s emotional family drama This Is Us. Here are the candidates with Jewish ancestry. The awards for TV excellence will be presented September 8 on CBS.

Evan Rachel Wood is being considered for her portrayal of Dolores Abernathy, an android character in the scifi series Westworld who discovers that what she thought was her life is a lie.

In the crime-drama series Ray Donovan, Liev Schreiber portrays the title character, a fixer at a powerful Los Angeles law firm.

Tracee Ellis Ross plays a biracial anesthesiologist who is the matriarch of an upper-middle-class African-American family in Black-ish.
