Conan O’Brien set to film in Holy Land
A certain late-night comedian will be following Jared Kushner to Israel this month – but he’s not being sent by US President Donald Trump.
Conan O’Brien, the former Tonight Show host who now has his own show on TBS, announced Friday that he will be traveling here soon.
Writing on Twitter, O’Brien said “Breaking: Conan O’Brien sends Conan O’Brien to Israel to help Jared Kushner.”
Kushner is slated to visit the Middle East this week.
O’Brien has been relentless in mocking Trump. In June, the comedian noted that Kushner was in the Middle East working on brokering peace.
“Kushner thinks real progress will start once both sides stop laughing,” he said. “Why is he there? Who is he? He was an intern on our show a week ago.”
And while Trump was visiting Israel, O’Brien had fun. A sketch on the show joked that he told Russian President Vladimir Putin that when he’d visited the Western Wall, he tucked a note in the Wall asking “for the power of invisibility so I could touch some ladies.”
According to Ynet, O’Brien’s visit – which will be about five days – was planned along with the Keshet Media Group and the Israeli Foreign Ministry. But could there be someone else?
In June, O’Brien featured a sketch he shot with Israeli actress Gal Gadot ahead of the Wonder Woman premiere. The pair trained together to show what Gadot’s gym regime was like for the film – though it quickly deteriorated into them singing the Hava Nagila while doing synchronized high kicks as part of an imagined IDF exercise.
“You were trained in the Israeli army,” O’Brien told her, “...I was a girl scout.”
