Vegas, Los Angeles, Tampa Bay all flying high

William Karlsson slapped in a Reilly Smith pass with 23.8 seconds left in overtime to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

Smith and Colin Miller also scored goals for the Golden Knights (6-1-0), who became the first team in NHL history to win six of their first seven games in their inaugural season.

Magnus Paajarvi and Alex Pietrangel­o scored for St. Louis (6-2-1), which fell into a tie for first place in the Central Division with Chicago. Jake Allen had 19 saves in goal for the Blues, who had a two-game win streak snapped.

In other NHL action, Anze Kopitar scored his second goal of the game with 2:14 left in the third period and the Los Angeles Kings remained the only team in the NHL without a regulation loss after a 6-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Trevor Lewis, Jake Muzzin, Drew Doughty and Dustin Brown also scored for the Kings (6-0-1), who have won four straight.

Meanwhile, Steven Stamkos tied a career high with four points while Nikita Kucherov scored twice and had a season-high three points to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 7-1 rout of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Rookie defenseman Mikhail Sergachev had his third consecutiv­e multi-point game with a goal and an assist. Andrei Vasilevski­y finished with 28 saves for the Lightning (7-1-1) as his bid for a second consecutiv­e shutout ended with 1:42 left in the game on a Jake Guentzel power-play goal.

Also, Kevin Hayes had a goal and an assist as the New York Rangers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 conquest of the Nashville Predators, while. Derick Brassard and Mark Stone scored two goals apiece as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 for their first home victory of the season.
