THE LOUNGE
1. Peres Center for Peace
Last week, the Friends of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation hosted former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz to a book launching of an autobiography of the late president Shimon Peres, titled
No Room for Small Dreams. At the event, which was held at the Dan Tel Aviv Hotel, all three of Peres’s children – Prof. Tzvia Walden, Dr. Yoni Peres and Chemi Peres – were present at the event. Yona Bartal, executive director of the Shimon Peres Circle, thanked all the members of the
circle and friends for attending the evening, including: Alfred Akirov, Morris Kahn, and Leora and Mikey Federmann.
2. Giro d’Italia
Last week, the prestigious Giro d’Italia bike race ended in Rome. Israeli cyclist Guy Sagiv made history when he became the first Israeli to complete an international professional tour as a member of the Israel Cycling Academy. In the VIP section near the finish line, the managers of the Israeli group could be seen gathering to offer their support: Canadian philanthropist Sylvan Adams; founder and owner of Israel Cycling Academy Roni Baron; owner of the Comtec Group Daniel Ben Naim; and strategy and communications consultant Ayelet Frisch.
The latter two organized the Giro d’Italia race in Israel, and have now turned their efforts towards their next big project: hosting the soccer friendly between Israel and Argentina, which includes star player Lionel Messi.
3. Abstract art
Curator and art entrepreneur Adi Porges-Israeli was brought in for a glamorous gala evening at the prestigious Partners & Mucciaccia Art Gallery in London. Porges-Israeli was chosen by Jeffrey Carroll, the international abstract artist, and by the owners of the gallery, so that she could invite her customers, which include many large art collectors. In the end, four of Carroll’s pieces were sold that evening. One of the buyers was popular British film actor Bill Nighy, who purchased a blue painting of the symbol for infinity.
4. Nespresso Israel
At Chef Raz Rahav’s OCD restaurant, the general manager of Nespresso Israel, Moshe Merry, launched a limited edition coffee mix, which is
inspired by Italian coffee recipes. The new mix is intended for the preparation of cold coffee drinks. Rahav put together a new unique menu that is suitable for cold coffee drinks. During the event, Nespresso also unveiled its plans for upcoming summer programs, which include musical concerts and collaborations with other top chef restaurants.
5. Tel Aviv Pride
British Ambassador to Israel David Quarrey and his partner Aldo Oliver Henriquez, along with dozens of dancers, star in the official British Embassy clip produced for gay pride events. The British Embassy will be the only embassy to have a float at this year’s Pride parade in Tel Aviv. This is the second year that the British Embassy will be taking part in the parade. The music that will be heard from the float will connect the generations and align with the spirit of the parade, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The float will be designed in a distinctly British style with huge dolls resembling British pop stars from previous decades.
